Well I am planning on buying one of these snares for $500 tommorow if my paycheck comes in the mail. The one I am getting is #40. What are your opinions of this snare, Did you like it? Hate it?

Im jsut excited becasue this is my first high end snare. I came into a temporary job and made close to 500 in 9 days so I decide to get it before it gets sold. 500 dollars is alot but its a collecters item, and its a  snare made from a material that not incredibly popular. I think I am getting a good deal becasue I have seen the snare on Ebay before, used at about $750

Bubinga certainly isn't as commonly-used as maple or birch, but it's a great tonewood for a snare drum.

I haven't played this particular Tama snare, but it got a great write-up in the last DRUM magazine.  I'll be interested in hearing what you think of it, assuming you go ahead with the purchase.

And if anyone was gonna know anything about it, it was gonna be that man right there. But I reckon get it, even if it's crap you can sell it on ebay for a 50% profit!! Now that's smart shopping.

You know what buddy... you worked hard at that temporary job and the money is burning a hole in your pocket.  I know, I've been there.
You working a temp job means that you are in and out of employement.  Trust me, those corporate pigs aren't going to keep you for long.  I would hang onto your money for the lean times.  Put some in the bank NOW.

I would say think about it some more, maybe save a few bucks and if you really need a new snare, buy something like way less expensive?  Maybe take a few lessons and get some new heads with the money you saved.

First, if you can afford to blow the money- go for it!  I haven't played the drum but it's hard to go wrong with Tama equipment.

However, I doubt it will increase in value but at $500 I'd say it's a good deal.

Yeah i'd go for it as if a time comes when money is tight as you can sell it for a profit and even if its not a profit, i doubt you'd lose too much and you will be no worse off, that is if you hang on to it for a year.

James I read the same review.From what I know its a great drum.And if I had the money I would buy one myself.I'm not sure if DRUM! does this but if they have reviews on their web site check it out and see what they had to say about the drum.

hey im planning on buying the same snare. its an awesome piece of equipment aintit? this ones number is 194, i live in singapore and i was suprised to find something like this which is so rare, out of the US. im excited tho, i really want it. ill be saving 250 dollars off the list price (700) and its brand new, how cool is that? i also read the same review in DRUM! magazine and thats how it cought my eye in the store, i imediately recognized the finish and the abalone strip which is one of the coolest things about this snare. i was also able to play around with it a littleand found it suprisingly versitile obviously brought by the warmness of the wood contrasted with the brightness of the brass bell tama snares. all in all this is a very pleasing find for me which i will not be able to pass on. o and this will be very collectable in the years to come :D have fun with yours, i kno i will.
