Title: Djembe skin ? Post by: Fed on September 06, 2004, 11:33 AM should djembe skin be smooth or rough to the touch... or both are fine... ?
Title: Djembe skin ? Post by: marker on September 06, 2004, 10:44 PM A typical djembe head is goatskin, with the hair removed, either by scraping or by using something like Nair. The head is typically smooth (or smooth side up), although the hair is sometimes left around the edges. As for thinner or thicker, I prefer thinner heads. Not as durable, but sounds better.
