I bought a maple snare drum from Donoho through ebay for $110.  For that price, it is a spectacular drum.   It's a 6-ply Keller shell, with very solid hardware (not sure if it's custom or not) and triple-flanged hoops.  It has a nice natural matte finish, and the bearing edges are flawless.

The guy that runs the place is Donoho Meadors.  He was very responsive via email when I asked questions before bidding, and he really seems to know his stuff.

I did replace the batter head with an Aquarian Focus-X, which cut the ringing just the right amount, compared to the stock Attack single ply.  The drum sounds great to me.

Hope this helps!

thx tuck,

yea, i was thinking about one of his 14x4 8 ply snares for some brush stuff.  brushing a 13" snare is quite annoying.

I had the opposite experience - I e-mailed Donoho a specific question about one of his snares on eBay that I was going to buy, and I received NO response of any kind. I ended up buying an Acrolite. I figured if he wouldn't answer before the sale, I'd never hear from him after if there was a problem.

I don't own any of his gear but have talked to him on the phone! Great guy. Knows his stuff and I DO know some others that have kits from him. All good reviews. If I were in the market, I'd have no problem buying from "D". His pricing is much more affordable than some others I've checked with.
