Title: Paying a Roadie/Tech Post by: Power368 on August 23, 2002, 10:23 PM I'll be soon traveling again after 8 years at home gigging.
So, what's the going rate for a decent drum tech? I'll be looking for someone for regional touring, (US Southeast) with 3-4 shows a week and will expand over time. Also, hired knowledgable help... no tag along "buddies". <lol> Just want to know a good offer to give without insulting someone. Thanks! Title: Re:Paying a Roadie/Tech Post by: Fireftr125 on August 24, 2002, 02:08 PM It depends on the job requierments of the tech, and what level you are on actually. Most of my encounters with drummers with techs have been that they were actually monitor techs, or possibly FOH engineers, so they would just get an extra cut to act as a drum tech. for example, A friend of mine was the drum tech for lone star, but his main gig was monitor tech and he made like $375 a day plus perdiem, but he was being paid by his sound company. But all my friends that do small venue regional touring, hire a guitar/drum/afterparty tech, and pay him like $150 per gig. So It really depends on your situation
