I cant get the clip to work....where did you find this so I can try to get a look.  This is one of the toughest grooves to do correctly-at least for me.  One of my Bonham favs!

All I got was an 8 KB snippet of a British-accented voice saying "One" with a slight clip on the end.

Just go buy Jeff Porcaros video(if they still sell it that is)He breaks down the Rosanna groove,its a hybrid of the Bohnam "Fool in the rain" groove and Bernard Purdie's" Babalon sister "groove...It should give you a good idea of how to play this groove...I think the only thing he changed is the bass drum part>>>

Yep. He combined those 2 beats with the Bo Diddley back beat and wham!  Rosanna.

That is one of my favorite tracks and hearing it isolated and under the microscope it certainly holds up.

I was wondering if they would do the Latin part.

A few things stand out:

He definitely had that freight train sound, his playing is extremely even, articulate and balanced, and the track grooves like hell.

Aside from the nice big drum sound and room acoustics, the sound he is getting from the drums themselves is really nice.

I would imagine he'd get the same type of sound from just about any kit he sat down at.

While there are others out there, this track is a great example where  John Bonham shows he was much more than his "basher" reputation would have most people believe.

Are we sure this was an out take? Sounds pretty good to me.

Wow! Is this from a boot CD?  They seem to all be from IN THROUGH THE OUT DOOR.  Fun playing "name that tune" with just drum tracks. I guessed "Carouselambra" for track 2.....

OMG!  Just when I thought I had exhausted my quest for lost gems of Bonhams drumming, THIS COMES ALONG!!!!  Yeah, they are In Through The Outdoor outtakes, and some fine stuff from Coda too.  What I really dig is hearing little grunts and groans as he plays-obviously under headphones.  The 1st 2 clips are of stuff I dont recognize.  Maybe its just a little warm-up routine he liked to do.  The room accoustics are excellent-you can really enjoy the wide open sound of the kit hes on.  My guess is hes on the green sparkle kit that he favored in the studio.  As far as crashes go, I def. hear all 2002s, 18",20", and most likely an 18" med. ride that he used as a crash is clearly evident to me.  And no mistaking the 24" ride.  I would really like to know the source of these archives.  Some of them are note for note that you hear on the albums, so I would bet they are just raw drum tracks, to be used on the albums.   Im blown away-I gotta go hit the kit man-

The fool in the rain cant possibly be an outtake!  Thats whats on the album.  These are most likely the drum tracks that were actually used.  But still a treat indeed to hear them in their raw form.  I want MORE!!!!!

i was gonna put up the original link where i got it from, but then thought, "man, that would REALLY tax his server."  so put it up on my own.  :P  but i guess its ok.  besides this was the best of 'em all, IMHO.

I've yet to sample the other tracks, but I must echo KevinD's assessment of Bonham's even and balanced sound; it's the first thing I noticed, with the obscenely large bass drum sound and the nice punch of his snare being second and third, respectively.  And, the fidelity is amazing.  He was truly a great musician.

I'm really digging the vocalization while he played! The grunts, groans and grimaces were part of the package! He was a truly awesome drummer that put EVERYTHING he had into what he played. I dug him then, and miss him now! ;)

In addition, his left foot independance on the hi-hat really stood out to me on that track. But that's something I'm horrible at which makes it all the better to me.

I've listened a bit more closely, and I think that Track 22 is not only the track to be used on the album, but that it is an isolation of the final take—I hear Plant's voice leaking in at times.

These tracks are fantastic. I have long strived for a relese of Bonham tracks w/o the rest of LZ as a source for drummers. I envisioned the project to be named 'Bare Bonham.'  My efforts to get Jimmy Page or Eddie Krammer to do anything with this idea has been futile so far.  These tracks are the closest to what I have envisioned.

Thae last two are 'Fool in the Rain' up through the bridge. It is interesting to hear how Bonzo played it before all the percussion overdubs.

Please note: it sounds to me that these tracks have encoded noise reduction(Dolby or DBX?) and have note been decoded for these tracks captured on this website. That would account for the overactive comprssion sound(its kind of like a background swooshing sound). I believe that played back through the proper noise reduction decoding these tracks would sound even better!

dunno if it'd help anything, but i'll try running the clip thru Goldwave and see if its noise reduction does anything.

My Nokia phone (6230) can use MP3s for ringtones. I just transfer them over IR from my laptop, using the Nokia software supplied.

Check out the intro to trk 22......Bonzo f-ing up, and vocalizes it.  You can hear Plant in the control room yelling "whats goin on".   But true to form, Bonzo gets the count right and just goes-cool, he could count to 4....
Its little treats like these that give us some insight into the world of Zep.
