Well, if you were buying the kit and cymbals new, the Rydeen (replacement for the YD) is about $500. The B8's would be about $200.

So, new you'd be putting out about $700. The guy wants $560. It's not a horrible deal.

What you want to remember though is that this is entry level stuff that will more than likely not appreciate over time.

If you can, save up for a "better" kit and cymbals. You'll thank yourself down the line.

But if you like it (really like it) offer him $400 and see what he says.

Remember, it never hurts to ask.

I would think that you could find some used stage customs, rockstars, or exports selling for about that. YDs are no longer made. They were student drums like Pearl Forums or Tama Swingstars. I would guess that the asking price is on the high end of what the kit is worth. If taken care of, drums and cymbals last a long time. Two broken cymbals are not a good sign.

Right. You listed $560 US and all the prices I put up were US too.

If the guy won't budge, I'd say keep looking. eBay is a great place to start. You could even pull a couple comparable configs off there to show him that his deal isn't all that.

I think that the set is okay, average. But the cymbals are no good. Go EBAY and get a used Tama or Gretsch...

I would tend to agree that the price sounds a little high, especially since you'll still have to buy some cymbals to replace the broken ones.
I found a very nice used Yamaha Stage Custom for a friend at church's son for $300 US on e-bay. It hardly looked liked it had been played. You can usually find good deals on used Stage Customs, which are better than YD's.
