Title: Heel spur Post by: ddong on June 06, 2005, 04:03 PM My right heel has a small knot on it, and has been hurting for about a week or so. I havent been to the doc. yet (making appt tommorrow), but have been talking to everyone I know about it. Im just curious if anyone here has ever had one, and how much down time is involved in healing. It seems surgery is common for these. As of now, Im just speculating, but Im trying to find out all I can.
The ONLY thing I can do without pain is play on my kit, since my heel never touches the pedal. Everything else hurts, walking, driving, even just sitting in a chair with my feet flat on the ground. Any insight will be appreciated Title: Heel spur Post by: ddong on June 10, 2005, 06:00 PM Well, its not a spur. It was an abscess caused by an imbedded dog hair. Sounds bizarre, but the doc said he sees it all the time. Its healing already. IAC

Title: Heel spur Post by: mouse on August 27, 2005, 06:11 PM I have had similar problems with my Hi Hat left foot. So sore i could not walk on it. After an X Ray showing no bone problem my doctor gave me a cortosone shot :'(, and that fixed it for about 6 months when it returned.
Deciding or more like wimping out at the thought of another painful shot, i decided to get a second opinion from a qualified foot specialist. Turned it was a muscle pulling problem caused by flat feet. My foot was strapped up with sports tape for a month and i had special insoles made to raise the arches in my feet. 6 months later i could run on it and a year following no problems. :) Moral being, see a podiatrist first before an educated guessing doctor. :P Title: Heel spur Post by: smoggrocks on August 31, 2005, 10:21 AM embedded dog hair?! good gosh, i've heard it all now, man! ;D
it actually reminds me of a weird thing that happened to me. i'd gotten surgery on both feet [ruined from dance] and several years later, found a hair growing from the side of my big toe. it grossed me out, so i grabbed a tweezer to pluck it. i pulled... and pulled... and pulled... and 13" later, after dang near fainting, i realized i'd plucked a stitch that'd never quite dissolved. it was freaky -- and stiff! all kinds'a crazy stuff up in them thar bodies of ours... Ewwwwww.....gross! ;D i pulled... and pulled... and pulled... and 13" later, after dang near fainting, i realized i'd plucked a stitch that'd never quite dissolved. it was freaky -- and stiff! I had a cheilectomy on my right foot that took forever to heal. The procedure was performed by a podiatrist who screwed up my post surgery care.
