Title: "Comfort curve" rim on bongos Post by: moosetication on June 08, 2005, 10:25 AM I'm about to make a small investment in some bongos. First off I need them for a show in which they will probably exclusively be played with sticks as part of the drum set. However, having bought them I will also want to play them with the hands - for my own amusement initially, but who knows what the future holds?
So anyway. I'm struck by the not insignificant price premium applied to these so-called "comfort curve" rims and I'm wondering just how essential they are. Clearly for playing with sticks they won't make any difference. But what about with the hands? Title: Re:"Comfort curve" rim on bongos Post by: B-cero on June 09, 2005, 01:04 PM personal preference for sure, I prefer the comfort type when my bongo is on a stand as I may hit it from various angles and positions in my set up so if I hit the rim, no pain. For seated play I prefer traditional style rims because they are lighter and the drums are often closer together.
