Title: Re:Double Bass Lesson Post by: Joe on July 12, 2005, 09:31 AM I do not understand how a drum part can be written in any key, much less that of "C".
::d&r:: Title: Re:Double Bass Lesson Post by: B on July 12, 2005, 09:52 AM I do not understand how a drum part can be written in any key, much less that of "C". ::d&r:: Dude, the 'C' stands for 'common time' (as in 4/4 time). Not the key of C. The 'key' is there because it's a key for the notation, so you know which notes go where. Dude, the ::d&r::, obviously not universally, stands for "duck and run". ;) Title: Double Bass Lesson Post by: drumwild on July 12, 2005, 10:08 AM The time wasn't common enough! ;D

Title: Re:Double Bass Lesson Post by: felix on July 13, 2005, 12:50 PM a "C" is common time and the key of C would have no sharps or flats in the staff either. No biggie- I like drum parts written on staff paper. I wouldn't have cared how it was notated- I would have just played it on piano as well as drums
It's the guy's first post and a good one. More people should post their playing ideas so nicely notated. I think those are some nice exercises. Dbl bass and sextuplets go hand in hand like Jack and Jill. Here's my little tip for single bass players- reverse the kick drum parts with the tom parts and vice versa, you can also move the 2 and 4 note groupings anywhere you want in the measure. That's some cool sounding shiznit- play it if you can. Title: Re:Double Bass Lesson Post by: Joe on July 13, 2005, 01:11 PM It's the guy's first post and a good one.
