Drummer Cafe Community Forum

My band was playing at a Benefit show at the World Cafe Live in Philly, and after the show, our lead vocalist was approached by a man. He said he loved our sound, and he loved our funk.  He then said that he used to play drums for Dickey Betts, George Clinton, and the Allman Brothers. My singer didn't catch his name, so I'm not sure if this guy is legit, or if he's just full of crap.  (note: this was a pretty big advertised N.O. benefit event, and some other guys that were there used to co-write with Chubby Checker)

That would be Mark Greenberg, and he's a player. We're talking Gary Chafee student.

i did not see him, but he was African-American. does this help at all?

Jai Johanny Johanson (aka Jaimoe) is the only black drummer I know that played (still does) with the ABB.  Here's his info (http://www.allmanbrothersband.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=userpage&file=content&page_id=18), along with a pic.

That's who I was thinking of. Either Jaimoe or a little white guy who also played with Dickey who, ironically enough, was named Jamo. Pronounced the same but spelled different. Weird, huh?

No no no no, I'm positive it wasn't Jaimoe, Anthony (my bandmate who talked to the guy) is a HUGE Allman Bros fan, probably even bigger than myself.
