Our senior DC reg is roaming the country on the World Party Gig and I happened to snag this outtake of CW returning to the throne after his third encore in San Diego.

Chris is dismayed to learn that the tour bus the band has been promised turns out to be a Cooper Mini.

I sure thought checking the "you can pay me in beer" box sounded good at the time.

From the taste of it, this must be the bottle they were using as the spittoon / ashtray!

1.  Hey, did you see the guitar player? He just threw up all over his amp!

2.  Yep, beer breath and a sweaty shirt...the chicks are going to dig me tonight!

3.  I know this will work...just shuffle your feet really fast like this and it will build up a negative charge.  Then when your lips touch the mic the charges will cancel each other out and you won't get shocked.  Trust me.

Funny!  It comes from an old Scottish drinking song.  Think passed out drunk Scot in a kilt waking up the next day...

I just wanted to chime in with a public "thank you" to Chris - my prizes arrived yesterday.

Of course, the drum head was included, with the aforementioned signatures:


(Obviously, this was the head Mr. Ferrer used on all his jazz trio brushwork gigs...)  ;D


Chris also went above and beyond the call, and included three - count 'em, three - CDs, including two World Party discs (the current CD, Dumbing Up, and another from a few years back, Goodbye Jumbo, autographed by the band (an album on which, Mr. Whitten played, BTW - and I've yet to hear a wasted note in any of the drum parts.  No surprise there.)  :)  Also included was a CD by Elvis Perkins - very nice as well, with some great drum sounds.  (Chris, do you know the name of the drummer on the recording?  I didn't see any credits on the disc or its packaging.)

BTW, just as a side note, throughout all of the World Party-related posts over the past few months, the names "World Party" and "Karl Wallinger" have struck a vague chord of familiarity in my fading memory - "Where do I know that name from?"  As soon as I fired up Goodbye Jumbo (and especially the tracks, "Ain't Gonna Come Till I'm Ready" and "Thank You World") it finally clicked for me, as in "Ohhhhhhh....OK, Now I remember this band!"  Boy, there's some nice writing on these discs.  Wish I could've checked out one of the NYC dates on the recent tour...

Regarding head damage, that was apparently a new head before a single shows worth of beating.
The list (at 9 o'clock in the picture) is The Psychedelic Furs set-list for the show. A neat idea! I never thought to write my set list on the snare batter.
