Title: Favorite Snare Drum or others? Post by: drumsonly2002 on November 24, 2002, 04:08 PM Back in 84 I purchased a Premier Project One Snare drum. I think it's Maple. Mine is a beautiful brown woodgrain, with thick die cast hoops. It came with a snare buzz reducer, sort of a felt unit on the ends of each snare that can be tightened to reduce buzz. Now here's the kicker, it has a shell within a shell. Two shells. The inner shell is a birch (I think birch), liner causing the drum to have a super warm rich sound with more bottom end then most snare drums. The drum is not as loud as most snare drums but very warm. I know not everyone likes that sound, as I also love a cracking, barking type snare also. I don't think this drum is available anymore, and to my knowledge only 900 were made. Most were made for the Premier Resonator line of drums sold in the 80's. My drum is in super mint shape and is always carried in a case. If I had to sell all my gear, the last thing to go would be that drum. My second favorite is my 28" 1937 WFL Bass drum. Any favorites you have?

I love that thing, great quality construction, beautiful tone, easily tuned (versatile too!), and it looks great to boot.. and it was like $150 used, it's silver sparkle.. yum. :P

Title: Re:Favorite Snare Drum or others? Post by: felix on December 02, 2002, 08:16 AM My 6.5 sonor F3K Sonor birch seems to get the most compliments. I really like it, it matches the rest of my f3k very well, nice tone, not much sympathetic buzz, none if I reef on the strainer. It has an edgy wood sound to it. I like it.
