Being vegan is super tough. I'm just a vegetarian....and no, I don't eat fish! I love vegetarian Mexican food by the way (bean and guacamole tacos etc...YUM). Title: Re: BBQ? Title: Re: BBQ? What about BBQ Sweetcorn? Post by: Louis on July 05, 2007, 05:35 PM I wonder how long he would last as a vegan... About as long as it would take me to fire up the smoker. I could probably become a vegetarian if I really really really had to but I bet I would be trying to BBQ animal crackers by the second week. ;D Title: Re: BBQ? What about BBQ Sweetcorn? Title: Re: BBQ? What about BBQ Sweetcorn? Post by: eardrum on July 06, 2007, 02:46 PM Although it's hard to beat my steak or salmon BBQ, I've learned to do some nice stuff with the Veggies thanks to my vegetarian sister. I've also converted quite a few friends to really enjoy the slightly marinated and grilled Portabello Mushroom - it is awesome.
Title: Re: BBQ? What about BBQ Sweetcorn? Post by: Paicey on July 07, 2007, 10:49 AM To be serious i like many veggies grilled with a little olive oil on them, eggplant, tomato, grilled corn (husk 0n), large hunk onion grilled is outrageous, green top onion, bell pepper, etc, its almost endless. As far as im concerned the less meat you eat the better off you are, at least the non organic meat. Beans and corn combine to make a complete protein supplied by meat. Ive read a great deal about the pitfalls of over meat consumption. NEVER, EVER, consume fast food meat sources if you are concerned of overall health. My favorite health advocate?, Gary Null. Ive just started reading entitled the Perricone Prescription, very interesting book.

I crave veggies as much as I crave meat when it's missing from the diet for a while. For me, the best way to eat meat off the barbeque is - to top it with some grilled veggies. A burger with a slice of grilled egglant on top - yeah, baby. Title: Re: BBQ? What about BBQ Sweetcorn? Post by: sleepybrIghteyez on July 07, 2007, 11:12 AM I'm not much of a fan of eating plain veggies, though I do enjoy adding them into other things I cook. I have recently come to submit to the eggplant. We grew them in our garden in New Jersey, but I don't remember eating them as a kid. Man those things are sooooo good. My wife and I tried a different resteraunt a couple of weeks ago and both had the Eggplant Mandeville- two breaded and fried slices of eggplant gently laid to rest over a heaping pile of angel hair pasta swimming in a shrimp alfredo sauce. Mmmm..... (drooling smiley).
Aside from eggplant, my favorites are vidalia onions and red potatoes. I don't think I can give up meat, let alone seafood. I don't eat red meat though, aside from the occasional deer sausage. Nutty Title: Re: BBQ? What about BBQ Sweetcorn? Post by: New York Frank on September 01, 2007, 09:18 AM I just re-read a few past posts, and I had to quote this - very funny:
... I could probably become a vegetarian if I really really really had to but I bet I would be trying to BBQ animal crackers by the second week. ;D ;D Title: Re: BBQ? What about BBQ Sweetcorn? Post by: Louis on September 01, 2007, 09:59 AM Now you have me thinking! Can a vegetarian eat animal crackers?
Title: Re: BBQ? What about BBQ Sweetcorn? Post by: Dave Heim on September 01, 2007, 10:05 AM Now you have me thinking! Can a vegetarian eat animal crackers? Yes, but not with the fingers. The fingers must be eaten separately. :) |
