Title: Drumstick Recommendation Post by: jgiercyk on October 12, 2007, 12:07 PM Hello all,
I don't know if this is the right forum for my question, but here goes. I am an orchestral percussionist, and I am looking for a good concert snare drum stick, or multiple types of sticks depending on effects (attack, volume, resonance, etc). Back in the day I used Saul Goodman Model B, but they are no longer made. I have Cooperman General 5s and 10s - I have the rosewood 10s for my 14X7.5 Yamaha Birch Concert Snare. I took a hiatus from playing - about 15 years. Since all of the things that I once knew as standard issue are gone, does anyone have any other suggestions for good concert snare sticks? Whew....remember when you could buy good sticks for less than $10 and good mallets for less than $20? I had to put a lein on my house to restock my mallet bag!! Thanks in advance, Jim Title: Re: Drumstick Recommendation Post by: Larry Lawless on October 13, 2007, 01:51 AM Hi, Jim -
I'm currently using the Cooperman Nick Petrella General, the persimmon wood, quite a lot and enjoying the feel. Another stick a little more affordable is the Lalo Davila model by Innovative Percussion. They also have a Chris Lamb model that some people I know really like. Then there's always the Tom Gauger #16 for something a little different. Here's a link to several of the popular models: http://www.columbuspercussion.com/educational/consticks.html - Larry Title: Re: Drumstick Recommendation Post by: jgiercyk on October 15, 2007, 01:22 PM Thanks Larry,
