Title: Pearl Rhythm Traveller - The Next Generation
Post by: New York Frank on March 16, 2008, 08:38 AM
As some of you know, I'm a freak for compact and short stack kits.

At the last NAMM, Pearl announced resuming production on a next generation of
Rhythm Travellers.

I haven't seen them up close and personal.  I thought I'd set up the thread
in case anyone gets them or sees them in a store and wants to comment.

I just saw a post about a TRAPPS kit and it reminded me of other portable kits -
like the Rhythm Travellers.  [My current kit is an RT clone.]

Anyone see the new generation of RT's yet?
Comments?

I hit one last week.  I did not sound as bad as I thought it might.  With so many other drums in the store I think the sound might have been bigger than it actually is.  But IIRC the drum did not feel mushy.  But like I said I hit one tom tom on the thing once.

So that's good for Pearl.

There you go, folks.  Coming from Felix-mon, considering we're talking about
shorty drums, this is a resounding endorsement.     ;D

I think they break down - the drums, anyway - into one bag, with
the drums going inside each other.

Will do.

By the way, I see this kit in my future.  IF I prosper and get into
a working groove on drums.  [which is not a given.   ;)   ]
My clone sounds fine to me, and I'll bet the
shells on generation 2 of this kit are pretty decent.  That plus a good snare
makes - for me - the right kit to run around town with.

Are you talking about the Rhythm Traveler Gig kit? I don't think they've been  available in the States before. I just placed an order for one the other day (for practice with mesh heads), so if there's yet another one coming, I hope I still made the right choice  :-\

The Rhythm Traveler Gig kit.

10" snare, 16" kick, 8", 10" and 12" toms.

I have seen references to the gig kit, even before they reissued the drums.

At this point, I don't know what the relationship is between the gig kit
and the U.S. Rhythm Traveller kit.   Go to Pearl USA and you can see the
reissue kit on their website.
