Title: Pacific drums discontinueing higher end kits?! Post by: Ninja Drummer on April 06, 2008, 11:06 AM Hey guys, it's been a while since I've been on DrummerCafe... Point in being because I've spent most of my time in another forum... but anyway... I've just heard from that forum that Pacific drums is discontinueing their higher end kits.
Which sort of suprises me... but not too much because I could understand them not really getting good sales on their LX kits and whatnot... I mean, if you're gonna buy those then you're better off just getting a DW kit. But point in being... it'll be pretty sad to see a higher kit go off the market. Anyone got the accurate reason of why they're actually doing this? Title: Re: Pacific drums discontinueing higher end kits?! Post by: Ryan on April 06, 2008, 01:00 PM It looks to me like they're just doing some rearranging. The Platinum series drums look as nice as anything I've seen put out under the Pacific name.

Why put out a high end Pacific set that will compete with the DW high end drums. They want the Pacific to be their middle of the road set, and DW to be their high end choice. Then they can sell their customers 2 sets. ;) Fine with me, maybe my DW set will go up in value. ;D
Title: Re: Pacific drums discontinueing higher end kits?! Post by: Ninja Drummer on April 06, 2008, 06:49 PM Well, I've sort of found the reason... It seems that most of the customers are confused about there being like 3 different series with the same wood, just different finishes, and prices... So it's rumored that they're just combining it all into the one "Platinum series" with all the options and features as all the other series... ex. MX, CX, LX...
Seems like a good idea to me, it saves the hassle of having to produce 3 gazillion different series with different finishes but all being basically the same drum. So I guess the "Platinum" series is like the "Collecters" series for DW, with the choice of different finishes and what not... isn't it ironic that Pacific is almost an exact mirror of DW? I mean sure they're made by the same people... but their two different brands still... |
