Title: Vintage Zildjian Cymbals....could I possibly get some sound samples? Post by: Blackie on May 16, 2008, 10:58 PM Ok, two cymbals I'm looking at right now are a Zildjian Avedis 18" Crash, somewhere from the 60s to 70s, and a 20" Ride of the same sort.
If someone could fill me in on the different series' of Zildjian cymbals back in the day, I would appreciated it. It seems as if there were only the A series and K. What I would really like are maybe some sound samples of those two cymbals, if anyone here has one or both of them. Maybe just like a audio file or a video or something?? If anyone does, could you PLEASE let me know? I may even want to buy it from you if you want to sell it.... Title: Re: Vintage Zildjian Cymbals....could I possibly get some sound samples? Post by: Chris Whitten on May 16, 2008, 11:07 PM Individual cymbals sound very different. Especially the older ones.
This is a huge subject, so I suggest you search around the various drum forums and use something like Google to find more information. There is the odd online dealer with sound samples, but mp3's aren't always reliable. Plus, what sticks were they using, which mic, in what size room? http://www.cymbalcellar.com/ Title: Re: Vintage Zildjian Cymbals....could I possibly get some sound samples? I forgot about the Cymbal Cellar 8) Title: Re: Vintage Zildjian Cymbals....could I possibly get some sound samples? Post by: Terry on May 17, 2008, 10:19 PM I have three crash cymbals, 16", 17", & 18", plus the 20" ride. I bought them on ebay and they sound great. That is, for what I use them for at this time. I wouldn't use they for Rock, etc. that would be out of the question. SO, they could be really great for you, depending on what type of music you want them for.Mine come from 1970 and needed a little cleaning. No big deal, just a cloth and some good Zildjian cleaner, polish. They had been in storage and had a bit of cr**p to be removed. Since then, no problem. I got them for under $100.00 each and they came from the same seller, with letters fromn prior owner. (Cobham). Check it out on ebay from time to time. God Luck.
