Title: sonor 3001 Post by: drumman1 on July 18, 2002, 05:21 AM Hello everyone! Im looking at the sonor 3001 to buy. Id appreciate any advice or comments on this kit or another brand kit in this sort of range. Do these kits rate in the semi-pro area??? I can get a new one for $1799 australian dollars. Thanks your comments will be very helpful!!
Title: Re:sonor 3001 Post by: Hotdrumchick on July 18, 2002, 08:24 PM The Sonor Force 3001 is a Chinese "Sonor"made by Mapex. For the money I guess they are ok. They have traditional tension rods and really don't do anything for me. Might make a decent gigging kit. But I say, save your money and buy a S Class Pro.

Title: Re:sonor 3001 Post by: Bart Elliott on July 19, 2002, 06:54 AM I'm not up on the newer models, but I used to sell SONOR Force 3000 kits ... and they were very nice kits. I would definitely consider these to be semi-pro kits. Now what they are doing with the 3001 models ... I can't refute or confirm what Hotdrumchick has stated.
I can tell you that, to my ears & eyes, there's a big difference between the 2000 series and the 3000 series. Last I saw, they were not using the cheap Taiwanese hardware on the 3000 series. Title: Re:sonor 3001 Post by: sonormore on July 22, 2002, 12:22 AM I would stay away from the 3001 personally, try looking for a second hand 80's/90's sonor kit eg Force 3000, force custom, phonic or performer. I know of someone selling his 6 pce performers in Adelaide, that might be the trick. If you want his contact details, let me know.
