They are ok...I've had two sets of the 5000 series.  The guy who owns the drumshop is getting in some of the special edition titanium ddubs as well;
have to check those puppies out, but my next double pedal is an Air Logic and then I want two sonor giant steps twin effects pedals to go with it.

In my opinion, DW makes the best hardware, pedals and drums.  I've both their single and double pedals for years.  DW doesn't have a 4000 series, so I can only assume you mean the 5002 double pedal.  I personally think this is the best pedal on the market.  I used the original 5002 from 1987 until Y2K, with very little problems.  This included several tours around the country and a heavy playing schedule thoughout college.  In Y2K, I bought a new DW kit and "downgraded" to a 5000 single pedal.  After 2 years of this, I went out and bought another 5002, because I missed the DB action :)  If budget is a concern, try the 7000 series, they are pretty good and affordable.  Just my thought...........
