For those of you who would like to know what happened this is it.

Mike and Steve kept asking when we could practice and I kept telling them I didn't want to jam.  I think they got the idea that i don't want to be in a band with them.  I highly doubt they will persue this band any farther and if they do i will tell them i don't want to be in a band with them.

I went to the jam session and neither mike nor Steve was there.  I guess they just called and said they couldn't play.

It's true what some other guy said: Mike is an awesome guitarist but he is a jerk that takes me for granted.  I have been in a band where the other players were not very good but they were really nice guys and were happy to have me in their band.

did you see my post on the double-braced cymbal stand guitarist beater?

fold your double braced cymbal stand up(sans cymbal), keep out just enough of the extension tubing to make a good handle and bust up the offending party.  good for every kind of brawl.

(it IS a joke, but it does work when needed, hehehe Grin Wink Grin)

Whether they're kidding or serious about what they're saying to you, it's not right and they should repsect you enough not to talk to or about you that way. You need to have a talke with them and let them know you don't like it. If they can't stop, then I'd bid them farewell and find some new friends, with a lot more respect, to play with.
