On the Frankfurt Musik Messe (the european equivalent off the NAMM) Paiste introduced a new series of cymbals called Noiseworks. A line of effectcymbals, consisting of stacked cymbals, like the Max Stax Mike Portnoy uses and the way Terry Bozzio stacks his cymbals to get noisy fast sounds. The paiste site doesn't mention them yet so did anybody here go there, and hear them?  I'm very curious.

New Noise Works Cymbals from Paiste

March 19, 2002
Paiste has announced the addition of a new collection of "Noise Works" models to its exotic/percussion series.

The new models are cymbal stack combinations and hi-hats with specialized application. Most of them are designed specifically for modern electronic musical applications such as dance, house and drum & bass. Through their specific design, they are well suited to emulate sampled and electronically processed cymbal sounds in a natural drum set environment. In addition, they offer extremely interesting alternative crash, ride, hi-hat and x-hat functions in most modern musical settings. Almost all drummers and percussionists can find real alternatives in the "Noise Works" collection that allow them to add new sound color and function to their cymbal sets.

The specific new models are the Dark Buzz China (11"/18"), a classic splash/china stack combination, the Tripple Raw Smash (12"/14"/14"), a combination of three cymbals with extremely variable function, the Double Clang Crash (12"/12"), a double stack combo with mainly crash function, the 12" Fizzle Hat, a small hi-hat with a soft, sizzling quality, the 12" Paper Splash Hat, a small, very responsive hi-hat with a splashy character, and the 12" Fast X-Hat, a stacked combo with hi-hat and crash function. The existing Trash set (12"/16", 14"/18", 16"/20"), a stacked combo featuring crash, hi-hat and ride function has been integrated into the new "Noise Works" collection.

The exotic/percussion series features cymbals and cymbal-like instruments of unusual nature based on the basic cymbal shape and cymbals specifically useful to percussionist
