After posting pictures of my snare drum, I thought I'd put up some of the new marimba my school just bought. It's a DeMorrow 4.6 Octave Rosewood with height adjustable frame.

left to right:
14" rebana
kanjira
10" steel shell/synth head
14" terra cotta (planter tray)

14" ghaval
12" brass (bowl gong)
18" tar (supposed to be a bohdran but the heads too thin)
14" steel (serving tray)

What school do you go to?  this is a serious marimba.  There's not a lot of these out there.

John - I 'm sorry I didn't reply sooner, somehow I missed this post a couple of months ago.

I teach percussion at Stephenville HS in Texas. The percussion students here are very dedicated and compete each year at the state level. It has taken me 7 years of working with the administration to get them a decent marimba to play on, so I got them what I think is the best. Many other high schools in Texas have marimbas of similar quality. At the state solo contest last week, I saw several 5 octave Malletechs, but no other DeMorrows.
