I was just given a copy of this recording by a friend of mine. I had never heard of David Axlerod before, but this recording has some serious drumming on it by the legendary Earl Palmer. I will admit I never reall knew much of Palmer until recently, but I'm sure I've heard him a million times and didn't know it, given the hundreds of album credits he has. (found out after much googling took place)
 The music itself I would classify as jazz, but it has some real trippy guitar work and an orchestral sounding horn section. It kinda reminds me of 60's jazz meets early Pink Floyd(maybe the Atom Heart Mother era) meets Zappa and the Mothers, but that's just my take on it. Earl Palmer, bass player Carol Kaye and a percussionist by the name of Gene Estes make up an amazing rhythm section. There are some mind boggling drum breaks thoughout many songs, great stuff. Plus the music is somewhat hypnotic, you can really get lost in it. Check out this recording, it should be required listening for any drummer.
