These are tuneable drums and typically come in an 8 piece set (Octo meaning eight); originally made by TAMA back in the early 80's (I believe).

TAMA only offers these drums in black now, although they were originally clear (acrylic).

The first person I saw use them (back when I was a kid) was Simon Phillips.
