FYI--you can get the current Acrolite(really blacrolite) 6.5X14 with ten lugs(bowtie) at your local drum shop for about $240. Model number is LM405. Grin

There was also a keystone 6.5" deep Acrolite up earlier this week but was removed within hours. The guy sold it off-auction for $800. He told me that Ludwig could only account for two dozen keystone Acros ever made and all were built for endorsers.

I've seen them advertised for $199 !

However, do these sound the same as the keystone blacros?

It has been well established that many of the 70's Acros and Blacros were a little "mushy" sounding. Aso, virtually everyone agrees that the re-issue BB's and Supras are lacking a little magic.

So, one has to wonder.

Has Mr A done a comparison of the 5" models?

The "Black Galaxy" Acrolite (a.k.a. the blacrolite) is the contemporary version of the instrument. Personally, I can hear a clear difference between it and my keystone Acro, but I'm not sure how to put it into words.
