actually einsturzende neubauten is doing that these days.  theyve set up thier own studio and are web casting most of thier work, as well as periodically hosting some real time chats.  its a neat idea.

Well ... here's some people who are doing just that (sort of).

The Guest House Live, is the first recording studio and concert venue on the Web that gives the world a 24/7 backstage pass. Emerging artists and touring musicians live their lives under the watchful eyes of 9 live streaming web cameras. The live stream over the net can best be described as Real World for musicians.

Under one roof is a professional, state-of-the-art recording studio, performance and rehearsal spaces, the offices of three record labels (Pop/Rock; Americana; Urban), two publishing companies, and musicians, singers, songwriters and technicians all creating and performing live to the world.

A concert schedule of upcoming activities is posted on the site on the Calendar. And after the music is made, visitors can see and hear past performances and recording sessions in the Library. The Guest House Live has been webcasting concerts live to the world 24/7 since November 2001. The goal is to promote and showcase artists of every genre and offer the music fan a unique and intimate view of the music process, from rehearsal, to recording, to finished work.

Go to the www.TheGuestHouseLive.com for more information.
