I guess this is mostly for our stateside members.   I came across a good score today at Cost Plus Imports.  Among the kitchen supplies and such I found a stack of metal serving trays.   14-15" across, round, about 2" deep, with two semi circle handles.   There was one copper one with pretty embossing which drew my eye, then a stack of (what I think is) steel ones.  And they sound GREAT!   For $20, a metal frame drum with a metal head.   Nice sound you cant get from a more traditional skin/synthetic headed drum.  Highly recommend taking a look for one if you can.

I worked at a kitchen store in college and would play all the stuff in the store.  I found that stainless steel bowls have wonderfully expressive properties!  They have a nice deep tone offset of the center, but the flattened, center section is really sharp.

i've numerous nice-sounding kitchen implements.  i always play the dishes at work.  

Thanks for the reply, but I'm actually talking hand drums here, not kit drums and accompanying parts.
