For me it changes all the time.... I have a bunch I love to play. some of those are just about anything by Aerosmith. But just recently I have really gotten into playin an old tune by "Warrant" called "Uncle toms cabin".
I just record a CD with a bunch of my favorites and jam until I drop! love to do that.

It varies, of course.

For the last few days I have been eschewing the chops and exercising my groove muscles with a couple from a handy Randy Crawford collection CD: You Might Need Somebody (another memorable shuffle from the late, lamented Jeff Porcaro) and, of course, The Crusaders' Street Life featuring Stix Hooper.

I usually play many different songs based on my mood, but I always come back to:

build a fortress around your heart- Sting (Omar Hakim). I love that tune.

Fortress is a good song, although I'm partial to "Shadows in the Rain" from that same record.

Lately I've really dug playing along to "Punch You in the Eye" by Phish.  I strongly encourage everyone to check out this song, the changes in style within the song are just great.

The techniques, though they play an important role in the early stage, should not be too restrictive, complex or mechanical. If we cling to them, we will become bound by their limitation.  Any technique, however worthy and desirable, becomes a disease when the mind is obsessed with it.

That is one of my favorite songs of all time.  I was banging on the steering wheel yesterday when it came on the radio.  It has a great varied use of all drums and cymbals.

Dude, those are some of my favorite tunes to play!  Cool I also love to play Red Barchetta by Rush. Along with almost anything by Miles Davis, and James Brown.

I know it sounds goofy, but one of my favs. ( Too many to mention really) is Rod Stewarts "Youre Insane".   Carmines drumming is way cool on that track.  And Im either right on, or waaay off when playing that song.  If anybody knows this track-Im sure they would agree as to its difficulty.

My current favorite is "Murder by Numbers" by The Police.  "Tea in the Sahara is a very close second".
