anyone else suffering thru these?

i stopped running since the summer, but after playing drums thru the winter, i'm starting to get 'em, and FYI, i've NEVER had 'em before!

Man, I've had those for a long time.  Ice helps when they start really hurting.  

I've found that if I stretch my legs and calves really well before playing, or running, they don't bother me too much.

ice is effective after you play, about 12 minutes on the effectived area
stretch is best before playing, i find Active Isolated Stretching by Aaron Mattes (physiotherapist) which is shorter peiods of stretch (2 seconds per stretch X sets of 10) with good exhalation of breath is the most effective way to stretch for many reasons!
a proper deep tissue massage (rolfing, connective tissue therapy) will probably correct the problem
ice and stretches keep it from coming back Grin

well,

thx to some googling, i've been using a tab of advil and wrapping my shin/ankle with some ace bandage, and whaddya know?!  my playing is soooooooooo much better!  well, it at least feels better.  Wink
