Hey,

I need a little clarification here. When measuring drum depts do you include hoops or not? I'm specifically concerned with snare drums and bass drums. Thanks.

What kind of numbers? what brand/model of drums do you have and what are the sizes?

I have Pearl drums, a mix between Export and Mapex. Their head sizes are 12, 13, 16, 18, and 22. When I measure them with the hoops, I get depths of 9, 10, 16, 17, and 16, respectivly. When I just measure the shells, I start getting 1/2 inches on ALL of them. Like 7.5, 9.5 ect. This just seems really strange to have all 1/2 sizes?

I have never heard of Exports coming in 1/2 inch sizes, but then again I have never owned an Export kit. I looked on a few websites and found nothing similar. The fact that all your drums are from 2 seperate companies is getting me a little weired out though... perhaps you need a new tape measure? Maybe one in inches?

Hmmm... Not sure. More importantly, do they sound good?

Ya, there's nothing wrong with them. Maxwin is just an older line of Pearl drums.

I wouldn't concern yourself.   A half inch here and there in depth is no big deal.   It wont really effect the sound, or construction of a drum.   It might just be that a previous owner recut bearing edges, it might just be the way they were made.

What size they are doesn't really concern me from a sound stand point, I'm just looking into getting some new drums, and would like to know what size I had for old ones. Specifically, I'm looking at getting a new snare, and dept can be key in choosing a snare.
