I think that the cafe is a great concept

What do some of you guys who play mallets think is the easiest way to learn chords. I have been going thru some books, Mitch Peters,  and  a couple of other  ones and it is very tedious. Then I will do some soloing with some Abersol cd play alongs. Then I will break out my fake book and just play some melodies and work on form and tone.

But I know I really need to get the chords thing together. any suggestions?

Thanks

Hey BL, nice to see you again, I think practicing chord progressions in every key is a good way. For example: ii, V, I in every key - I, IV, V (blues) in every key then add the 7th to the chord, 9, etc. These are simple progressions, but I think drilling these in the memory banks (every day) is the way to get it DOWN. From there you can work on harder progressions. What Jamey Aebersol play alongs do you have and how good are they in your opinion? thanks - carlos
