...It's also easy for pickpockets to lift it out of there ... I've always had mine attached to a chain since the late '60's (when I got my 1st wallet). And in the stick-bag it goes, along w/my rings and watch, when playing.

I meant I'd steal you stick bag (with you wallet there in). Unless it's chained to something too!

The wallet is chained to me and remains so, even when in the stickbag. (I think we are off-topic Jon)

The sciatic nerve runs from the spine down the leg. A wallet in your back pocket puts pressure on that nerve and it causes back or leg pain. Check it out: http://www.sciaticaclinic.com

:-) LOL... Not much! Most of my money goes towards bills and gear! LOL The sciatic nerve runs from the spine down the leg. A wallet in your back pocket puts pressure on that nerve and it causes back or leg pain. Check it out: http://www.sciaticaclinic.comSounds about right to me... I had assumed that I was simply twisting my back which caused the pain. Posture is sooo crucial for the back. I used to sit on my leg as well... Right leg under my left leg... BAD BAD BAD.... Breaking that habit has been a challenge. Try it out... You'll notice a difference... Guy

I attribute my wallet to my sciatica. 25 years ago it wasn't a problem, but today I can hardly stand up sometimes. Ditch the wallet into a zippered pocket in your stick bag. Don't put it in your pocket while sitting down at all! Not for eating, not for riding the taxi home.

Luckily this hasn't happened to me as of yet ( knock on wood...where did my snare go,lol ) Generally when i'm home I leave my wallet in my room,no need to have it if i'm not going out. And at shows I place it in my stick bag while playing along with my glasses, ear plug case,etc... This way there is no risk of it falling out while i'm taking things off stage and such.

I've heard that keeping your wallet in your back pocket can lead to back problems in some people since it means you're always sitting on an uneven surface. It sounds like a wife's tale to me, but I thought I'd ask anyway if anybody's ever heard of this being an actual problem. Does anybody know for sure one way or the other?
Do you mean while drumming, or all the time? Either way I don't carry a wallet, if I have money or an I.D. of some sort i carry it in my side pockets, its more comfortable and easier to access.

good gorsh; i could never carry a wallet in my pocket. that thing is forever bulging with dollar bills, coins, atm receipts, coupons i never use, etc. and even though i don't have many credit cards, i still have my med insurance card, dental insurance card, costco card, license, metrocards, phone card, library card, blah, blah, blah.
i must find a way to lighten my load. carrying my pocketbook makes me feel like a donkey -- literally. there's books, magazines, the wallet, umbrella, spare shoes, makeup, meds, perfume, eyeglass case, sunglass case, blah, blah, blah.
i'm gonna be a hunched-over bitty by the time i'm fiddy.

I have no doubt the wallet was causing problems for me, so about 2 years ago I began removing it when driving and when playing drums. It's just a lot more comfortable without it anyway. My chiropractor believes that over years it can cause alignment issues.

Good Lord, no! the first thing I do is take my double pedal bag, put it behind my throne, and put my glasses, wrist watch, and wallet in it and close it..(it would make a nice care package for a thief, but I keep an eye on it). If I'm in doubt, I leave that stuff in my transportation. Do not sit on a wallet.

One of the coolest guys I've ever known would carry around a small leather bag w/ all his stuff in it. He told a story once about meeting some girl in a bar--well they started comparing their "purses". He pulled out his wallet, she took out hers; he pulled out his comb and chapstick, she took out her cosmetics bag. This went on for a bit. Then he pulled out a condom...so she took out a box w/ her diaphragm in it... Seriously, I think having a small handbag is the way to go, whether male or female. I'm sure you boys could find a nice, manly leather bag to put all your "stuff" in, and get those pockets emptied out so y'all don't look like geeks. robyn
