Good luck finding a band xdrummer2000!
Here's a tip I hope you can use -- the non-musical stuff people do will get you every time, so watch out!
6 degrees is definitely a top-five fav album for me, but getting people to replicate something like that is hard to imagine so know what you're in for.
Are you looking to be a progressive rock/metal jamming band ["let's have fun and see where this goes"], or are you looking to assemble
a drummer, keyboardist, bassist, and guitarist who are all equally able to honestly say, "As far as technique and honed ability goes, I really don't hear much in any Western Civilization music that I can't do. Plus, I have arguably the most expensive custom made for me only gear in the country." ? [Please note: this has nothing to do with song-writing or "how good or bad" Dream Theatre's music is. Do not make this post about your opinions about the band.] That's either a 1-in-a-billion accident of nature or a result of 15+ years of killer hard work together as a band, so don't feel frustrated.
It's good to have aspirations, just don't let them be "be a famous millionaire", "play at the super bowl", etc...
