A real Little Feat fan?!   Very Cool

Oh, yeah!  My Talking Heads cover band project will be "done" in July or August and we're gathering players now for a Little Feat cover band project (as well as a Steely Dan project).   I need a drummer for the Little Feat project (I'm strictly "other" percussion) - wanna play?   Wink

Tony, even though I'm a big metal head, I share most of the sentiment. I think we had a discussion of this matter here in the Café. Too many guys are way too caught up in categorization, and many are way overprotective of "their" music and "their" bands.

BTW, Load is one hell of a record! Wink

Yeah, I remember that discussion!!  You're the second person in as many days to tell me "Load" is a really good.  I've listened to it sort of, but based on these rec's, I'll go buy it this weekend.  Thanks!

The techniques, though they play an important role in the early stage, should not be too restrictive, complex or mechanical. If we cling to them, we will become bound by their limitation.  Any technique, however worthy and desirable, becomes a disease when the mind is obsessed with it.

I wanna play, but I can't!  Cry

1) Too far from Athens Georgia before I move
2) Too far from Athens Georgia after I move

Little Feat, especially with Lowell George, is one of my all time favorite bands.

Steely Dan project? Wow, that's ambitious - I love it. Wish I wasn't on the other side of the world... Sad

Id like to add Beck to my list of folks I just can't get into.

Everything I've heard from him (something from every album and some early K eps) has just sounded tedious, forced, weird for weird sake, etc.   I just don't get the remotest sincere vibe from his stuff.   And thats a big thing with me.  Its highly unquantifiable and personal I know, but its how my head works.

Edit - I've been quoted so I'll just add this here ... I'd like to change "weird for weird sake" to "clever for clevers sake"  Grin

I have to concur with the addition of Beck to the list.  He seems like another artist that is hip to like because Rolling Stone et. al. declare his hipness.  I just don't get it.  Tongue

Agreed.  The only Beck I get into is Jeff.

I've got a friend like that.

When he pulls out his latest aquisition, he launches into a bewildering stream of adjectives that takes around forty-five seconds to a minute before he starts getting into words that are still commonly used.
