hehe,

my sadowsky jazz-5 is a fender freak's dream.  Cool

and here's a better closeup pic of the fibes kit:

cymbals are of course my roommate's, right to left: 14" Istanbul Mehmet hats, 19" Bosphorus Masters, 8" Sabian HH, 20" Z Kcon Light, 20" Bos N.O.  and that's his Ayotte 14x5 woodhoop, satin finish snare hiding behind the silver sparkle goodness.

I'm with Mr. A- stunning kit- look at that glitter.  Is that a wrap or enamel?

Jkr. I'm really proud of you- you are amassing quite a collection of fine gear!

...altho if I'm reading another thread on this board correctly, he's selling them... Huh

And what's worse:  I'm within driving distance...but alas, the drum slush fund is empty at the moment.   "#(@(*%^@)"...

joker, you bought those kits for a reason and I guess there is always  a reason to sell a kit- but after taking a multitude of hits on gear "loved and lost" now when I get the urge to sell I ask "why did I buy this in first place" and when I get the urge to buy I ask "do I really need this?"

James, I'm not sure if that Fibes kit is "you"

That finish really does jump out.  Nice to see the old-school felt strip on the kick!

Oh, and that's Fronkensteen.

LMAO- that young frankenstein pic you dr.'d is hilarious.  I needed that today.

I picture you as more of a Gretsch guy.  But fibes-vibes (mallets)- I see the connection now.

Very nice old school felt strip.  I just would have placed mine on the bottom 1/4 of the drum as to be visible, but yet less obtrusive as pictured like JOKER's in the top half (OK, who let this jerk with all the opinions in the cafe- my word).

actually, i originally had the strip all the way down towards the bottom of the reso, w/ the bottom edge of the strip riding an inch or so above floor & rim.  gave the bass juuuust dryness to control the boom.  but for that particular venue, my roommate thought it needed a touch more dryness, and thus moved up the strip closer to the center.  he then realized, in his Fronkensteinian problem-solving mind, that the Fibes logo was about the same distance from the top, and would look cool.  hence its current location.

Back in 78 when I was a wee lad of 18 I got my first "real" it, It was a set of Fibes. Fibergalss shells and they looked and sounded great. I wish I had held on to that kit.

ooh, that is pretty. i have silver sparkles, but the pearlier-colored ones look [cue jersey accent] 'classier.'

as for the descending toms; i could never get away with that. billy w. is quite a tall guy, though, so i could see how it'd work for him, but i'd feel like i was hunching over. i like everything more or less at the same level.

Me too!  I have a friend who sets up with the toms getting progressively lower.  He claims that being lower as he moves around the kit makes it easier to hit the larger toms harder without having to raise your sticks as high.  It may work but personally I think his dad had the outhouse too close to the main house when he was a kid.   Grin

well, my roommate is actually about 6', and i'm pretty sure Billy's pretty tall, too, so makes sense for the tallish peeps.

but i'm like smoog and dig a lower more "table" like setup.
