so, apparently, my good friend, Seth, with whom i've begun to work w/ again is taking lessons from none other than the groovilicious,
Adam Deitch!
in his tiiiiiiiiiiiny chelsea studio, he's able to take on a few students, now that he's back from the road, and while on break from the Lauren Hill sessions he's been assigned.
at any rate, tonight at rehearsal, seth was explaining that last week's lesson w/ Adam was to DL the song "Poison" by BelBivDevoe. yes, that mid '90s classic.
BUT, he said to listen closely to that intro drum lick, cause adam wanted seth to play that w/ just/only the left hand! said it was a good way not only to strengthen your left, but also was a fun way to inject your drum/bass grooves w/ that lick! seth showed me, and HOLY CRAP, its mad slick in a grooverider like 16th note groove.
