I haven't been around the forums in a while, but i've still been pretty active with my drumming. I recently sold my old cb/export for 300$ (making a nice profit i must say) and leaving me very much drumless. So, today I went to gc and bought myself a nice new (but used) Pearl Masters BRX in Midnight fade sizes 10, 12, 14, and 22 (i dunno the depths). I had originally set out for a DW, but the price of the pearl was just too good to pass up. I didn't get home 'til late though so i have to wait until the morrow to play, but what I heard from the store they sound fantastic! Much better than the old kit. The kick is especially amazing!

No pics yet, but I'll take some eventually. The finish is hard to capture as it changes from blue to purple to black depending on the light conditions. You really have to see it in person. Fwiw, i'm only 16 and purchased the kit completely on my own.

Just wanted to share my excitement! I can't wait for tomorrow!  Grin

Very Cool!  Welcome back, it's been awhile since I've seen you.  Extra congrats on doing this as a teen.  It's nice to see a teen make a purchase like this on his own rather than having it handed to him on a platter - especially with the allure of cars vs. drums.

I'll second that....Plus you'll enjoy the fact that they are yours with no strings attached. Enjoy the new kit....I'm sure you'll like them.    Cool

Haha, thanks all. I've been playing with it for most of the day, and it really does sound fantastic. I really wanna play with a couple of my buddies, but everyone's busy so far. I also wanna gig with it, but at the same time gigging really stresses your gear and i especially don't wanna mar the finish. I think i'm gunna invest in a set of cases when I do eventually start.

I took pictures, but my digital camera ended up breaking before I could download them. The stupid dial thing you need to turn the camera on, is stuck in the off position. Technology...

Thanks again! Smiley

Man, please dont worry about marring the finish. Life is so short my friend and drums just get nicks here and there. Go out, enjoy them, and just KNOW that youll bring them home with a few scratches now and then. Im not saying to treat them badly, just be carefull and have some fun drummer. Nicks and scratches are a part of the drummers life. Just worry about kickin azz my friend and goin home knowing that the band knows that YOU are the one that rules. Dig in and good luck drummer.

That first scratch is always the worse.  When I get a new kit or a new truck I always put a small scratch on it immediately.  Usually in a place not easy to see .  I know it is there, no one else can see it and it takes a lot of pressure off me.
