That is too bad. As I mentioned in my post "Dead rock stars", several of mine and many others favorites are dead.

They said on the radio this morning that after meeting Steve Cropper, the two bonded so quickly that they basically sat down and wrote three of WP's biggest hits within a few hours of playing together for the first time.

"Midnight Hour" and "Mustang Sally" (which I've played more than any other cover song) are his most well known hits, but I sure do wish that a band I'm in would do "Funky Broadway".
Now that is soul music. <insert classic Wilson Pickett scream>
R.I.P. Mr. Pickett.

"Midnight Hour" and "Mustang Sally" (which I've played more than any other cover song) Me too! But "634-5789", "Land Of A Thousand Dances", "Stagger Lee", and "Youre So Fine" is high on that list also.

No one will believe it's the "Blues" if you wear a suit, 'less you happen to be an old person, and you slept in it last night!

Not to sound money hungry,..not my point,at all..I wish I had the royalties to every time I, and a host of others....just here in this place....played those timeless classics. You'd be a rich man.. It's about just how great those songs sounded and how popular they were..Godspeed, Mr. Pickett

What's ironic I was in a rehearsal and we were playing "Mustang Sally" right around the time he died.
Just ... eerie.

The band I session for played Mustang Sally as a tribute to him during our Sunday gig last night.
RIP to a renowned songwriter.

I believe that it would be hard to find a time when at least one person was not playing Mustang Sally! That song gets a lot of playtime and that makes an artist proud!

Sorry to hear this, he was a good man. I had Mustang Sally in my head for weeks after it came out.
