not right now. ive been focused on a recording im working on. but ive averaged about one a month in the past and plan on bringing that back soon. (well, one a month for the band and one for me, so thats kinda two a month) im not the busiest guy out there for sure. but the band im working with now is just really getting rolling so I cant expect more yet. and after about a year off for reorganization im pushing my solo stuff again so its all kinda fresh too.

As soon as I find a new band  (whoever that may be), I'll be gigging again. Mostly practicing in my basement, playing to CD's and jamming occassionally with various musicians with whom I've played for years. |

I've got some cool gigs this next week ... October 27th, Sunday - Houston, TXJazz/Gospel Brunch at the 3rd Ward Community Centerfeaturing Mike Morrison (gtr), Scott Gertner (bs), Wendell Brooks (sx), Gilbert Sedeno (pn) and Bart Elliott (dr). Tickets are $25 per person and must be purchased in advanced; not available at the door. Contact the St. James Episcopal Church at 713-526-9571 for more details, information and reservations. On a side note ... saxophonist Wendell Brooks plays on a number of Simon Phillips' albums as well as his live band; and he has also played in the Rolling Stones' touring band.

I'm playing regularly with Shana Morrison. We've got a gig this Saturday at Biscuits & Blues in San Francisco. (Finally a gig that doesn't require a hotel stay!). Tickets ain't cheap at $15, but if anyone's around, stop by!
And still gigging with the cover band when there are holes in the schedule.
I'm averaging around 8 or 9 a month right now.

Sidereal have you ever run into a singer by the name of Darryl Rowe.? I played with him in Aspen a couple of years ago excellent singer, sings like Nat Cole.

I've been doing a weekly jazz gig for a couple of weeks now, looks like we will have a couple more shows. The money non-exisitant, the crowd couldn't care less if we played or not, the bar kinda sucks, but I'm having a great time!! It's a lot of fun to get to play with other musicians that actually listen to each other and RESPOND to what we are playing! (imagine that!)

Maybe something on the horizon. A friend of mine is wanting to work up some of his original music while playing covers. We got together for only the first time last night and man what a fine time it was. Made some massive mistakes just in trying to get the feel of the group- played some 60's stuff to warm up on that I was very unfamiliar with Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Fleetwood Mac- prepping for a 60's festival I think later in Nov. Unfortunatly I gotta work that weekend but it was fun getting together to jam. We didn't work up problem areas that night just getting a feel for how the musicians may respond to oneanother. Seems hopeful so will hopefully have something to post on a more definte note in the future.

Not that any of y'all could (or would want to ) make it to these shows, but regardless, Tormentor soldiers on... 11/1: The Ranch-Howard, PA 11/9: Mary's-Clearfield, PA 12/14: The Ranch-Howard, PA These are just little, out-of-the-way places in central PA, but the money's decent, we get free beer (or in my case, Mt. Dew), and the places are usually filled with happy drunks who want to jump around & have fun. Ahhh, the joy of playing heavy metal in the middle of nowhere!!! |

On Thursday October 31, I'll be on TV playing drums with Clarence Clemons, on The Best Damm Sports Show, Period on the Fox network. I'm not sure what time of night it's on - that will probably depend on your cable provider. So when you're not busy giving candy to trick-or-treaters, maybe you'll catch a glimpse of me onscreen!
This will be a whirlwind trip to Hollywood, which will involve me spending more time in an airplane than I'll actually spend in LA. But it should be fun - I'll let you know how it went when I get back. I'll be playing rented drums with my own cymbals - I've usually been happy with the drums they provide in LA, assuming it's from a decent service like SIR. But unlike most of the late-night talk shows, this show does not usually have musical entertainment, so it will be interesting to see how smoothly things go - hope there aren't too many speed bumps...
It's been a weird season gig-wise: pretty slow for the most part, with an odd mix of big concerts and cheesy tuxedo gigs. There's never any middle ground in this biz, from my experience.
