The other day I woke up to the horror of my 4th finger locked in a bent position!  Ouch!.  Days later is not better. I suppose this is what they call trigger finger.

Have any of you experienced this, and what treatments have you undergone?

Thanks.

Sorry, I had a really tough day yesterday, everything hit me really hard, but today's a new day so I reposted above, simple, clean.

Any comments on trigger finger sincerely appreciated.
Also, Kew, thank you for your wonderful words <I also sent you a PM>.

Xena, you can read this article from the Mayo Clinic:

Click on the sub-links for more information.

I hope this condition you woke up with improves, you've been through enough as it is, girl.

PS:  I sent you a PM about 3 weeks ago, but don't know if you received it.

I told my wife that a husband is like a fine wine; he gets better with age. The next day, she locked me in the cellar.

My docter injected a steroid (OUCH!) right into the knuckle. 2 days later all healed up.

I see a sports medicine doctor and have had great results. I’ve had the injections in my right knee and shoulder.  The good thing is there’s no rule against it in music.  If we were major league athletes we’d be banned for life for the steroids. Grin

BTW don't worry about growing large muscles in your finger or looking like some freakish East German Olympic swimmer from the '80s.  I've had steroid (e.g., cortisone) shots for various joint problems.  The typical steroid used as a powerful anti-inflammatory  does not have an anabolic effect like steroids used by strength and power athletes.  (And these are not banned like anabolics.)  I know that the poster was just kidding, but if you are concerned, check with your doc.  I'm sure you will find that your particular steroid injection will not build muscle.  It is just a great anti-inflammatory medication.

DR,   Yes I was kidding about being banned for life.  I  try to keep a sense of humor when dealing with injuries or health problems.  It seems to help me overcome the difficulty.  The cortisone shots in my shoulder have worked wonders.  I was thinking  I might have to hang it up because I couldn’t move around the kit without stiffness and pain.  Now I’m back to doing cross sticking on the shell and floor tom with ease.
