I'll post about the gear once I have a bit more of a handle on the specifics.
So far I've decided on N&C drums, a Craviotto snare, Evans heads and Zildjian cymbals.

On the further proof that life isn't fair front...
I have a gig lined up for 9/9 already.  But it is New York, afterall, maybe there will be another date added?  And of course there is always the fact that about a third of our gigs fall through.

Anyway congrats on the return to the riser.

I would cancel any gig to see Chrisso play.

Chrisso has been a big inspiration to me and two of my best buds whom are drummers- even moreso lately:

After seeing Chrisso play a Dire Straits show my buddy went out and got a Noble and Cooley drumset.  He later sold the drumset to his best friend (actually one of mine) also- so we are like "the three muskateers" now and we all trade off using the coveted Noble & Cooley Horizon series kit.  In FACT my friend will be gigging with this kit again this weekend ( I played it last weekend)... we are so stoked about how everything has gone full circle.

We are all pretty much groove players also, so anything I glean from Chrisso online I share it with my two buddies and we are like giddy schoolgirls talking about the stuff.  It's fun as hell.

Thanks man.  Can't wait to see you.  Hope you have your autograph sharpie ready.

I'll just go on record to say no one should cancel their gigs.

OMG!!! I will be at the Boulder show!!! Shocked Shocked

And what do you want to do in Colorado? Party? Hike? Mountain Bike? Boulder is a beautiful progressive town, right next to (ie, in your face) the Rocky Mts, and is a mt. biking mecca. Lots of world-class bikers live and train there.

Actually - I just realized, I'm only going to be about 4 blocks from IP.  Depending on stage time?

Yeah - we're not really a fill in kind of band - if I don't do it the whole band doesn't get to.

If you have the time/inclination, I'd be interested to hear a little about the rehearsals, and how you are preparing for them.

I'd also be interested to hear what you do to keep yourself physically healthy on tour.

Thx

Yeah Byronand, I'm hoping to post about my gear selection and some health subjects over the next couple of days.
I also plan to keep the Cafe up to speed on the rehearsal process and what follows once we hit the road.
Not sure how that's all going to work out, but I'm told the tour bus is wired for the web.

I once went mountain biking in Los Angeles (strangely enough) on a day off during the McCartney tour. I ended up in ER. The show must go on, so I'll probably stick to safer pursuits, like juggling cottonwool balls in a padded room.

Hahahaha....  Well, just relax and take in the beauty of Colorado.

BTW, there should be a lot of micro-breweries in that area, so have a go at it.  Wink

oh dear...definitely want to protect those hands...At least you can spend a bit of time driving thru the mountains. Rocky Mountain National Park is right there too, about 45 min drive away.

Don't forget, drive on the OTHER side Grin

Yeah, mountain bikes and micro-breweries, a bad combination for a drummer at the beginning of a long tour.  Wink

I guess at this point I should post a couple of official warnings.
This is a bus tour, most likely arriving in a town during the day and leaving that town soon after the show is done.
So I'm not sure how much free time I'm going to have, or how much 'hang' time pre and post the show.
It does seem that Karl likes to meet his audience after each show, and on the current 'unplugged' leg he's been spending a lot of time chatting and signing CD's etc.
So, I'm hoping to 'hang' and meet some of you guys. I'll be happy to chat gear, career, or just shoot the breeze in general.
OK, my second warning is to remind you that the last time I did this was in 1991.
I have quite a few old friends and contacts dotted around the States and Canada. I'm really hoping I can catch up with them, most of whom I haven't seen for over ten years. So, if the after show chinwagging is limited by time, please don't be upset if I seem to be spending too much time talking to some other 'older' geezer.  Wink
I hope none of the above comes to pass and we will all have plenty of time to meet each other, have a beer and a laugh!  Smiley
Suffice to say, shows away from the big music centres like LA, NY and SF where I have more old friends and industry sponsors, will be much more relaxed.  Smiley
