Next week I'll be traveling to Colorado to record an album with Drummer Cafe member Larry Lawless.

Larry has been preparing for this recording for well over a year now, so its very exciting to see this all come to fruition.

The basic concept is that Larry has brought together 5 percussionists, including himself, each contributing two compositions for this unique percussion ensemble recording. We will be converging on Boulder, CO on July 15 for an intense week of rehearsals and recording.

You can find out more about this project, as well as read Larry's weblog as he documents the process, by visiting his website at:

I'm honored to be a part of this ensemble's recording project and look forward to making some music with an all percussion band!

I'll be leaving in a few days for Colorado to begin the rehearsals and recording. Larry has us scheduled from 9:00am to 9:00pm for 6 days straight with only 1 hour meal breaks! I've handled similar schedules while in the recording studio tracking for an album, but the most I've ever gone is 3 days straight (12+ hours each day) ... and I am totally wasted afterwards. Wonder what 6 days is going to be like?!

Larry has started a blog that you might want to check out. He'll be giving updates as to how the recording and rehearsals are going ... so be sure to visit www.LawlessPercussion.com each day next week!

I had fun hanging out with all my new percussion colleagues last week. Looking forward to hearing the final mix for the CD.

We stayed on schedule throughout the week with exception to the last day of recording. We did not get to finish my tune "Hevy Revy", which is still lacking the drum tracks. The decision was made for me to track the drums here at my studio, which I'll do as soon as I receive the files from the engineer.

I'm assuming that the CD will be available in the fall of 2006. Lawless Percussion is a supporter of the Drummer Cafe, so the CD will be available here!

The CD is out and ready for shipment! You can pick-up a copy of the album directly from Lawless Percussion or visit the Drummer Cafe booth (J) at PASIC 2006 in Austin, TX.

I've posted a clip on MySpace of my composition "Hevy Revy" on which I played drums. Because of time constraints, I actually recorded the drums at my home studio, so you are hearing my FIBES kit with the Yamaha Bamboo Snare drum.

Lawless Percussion & Jazz Ensemble has a MySpace page as well now. Larry posted one of his compositions "Doctor and the Deacon" which I'm again playing drums.

Check them out!
