I don't think anyone posted anything about Zoro's recent DW Clinic Tour to various Guitar Centers. Did anyone catch one of his clinics this summer? If so, tell us about it!

No one here at the Drummer Cafe saw Zoro this summer during his Guitar Center clinic tour?

Zoro didn't come to Nashville because DW had already brought Billy Ward here via the Five Star Drum Shop - Clinic Tour ... so they only hit cities, with Guitar Centers, that didn't have the Five Star clinics.

We don't have Five Stars, but I never saw a promotion for a Guitar Center clinic here in Phoenix. I'd be very upset if he came and I missed him.

Well, be prepared to be upset ... Zoro was in Phoenix on August 23rd, 2006 at the Guitar Center Phoenix.

I posted his entire schedule on the main Drummer Cafe website. It's also available here.

Sorry you missed it!

The Hat Man did a drive by? Argh! I'm calling GC right now, because where was NO promotion whatsoever here. Not even in store.

Mental note: Pay more attention to Bart!

My snail-mailed promotions from GC typically arrive late or very close to deadline/event date.

Well, I do my best to report drumming news here at the Drummer Cafe. I don't get it all, but I do my best, and I definitely had the scoop on Zoro.

So, be watching the News section of the Drummer Cafe ... I post all the drumming events and news on the main website, not here on the forum.  Cool

Also ... (clears throat) ... if you would have been a subscriber to the Drummer Cafe eZine, you would have received multiple notices about Zoro's (and others) clinics!

Every time something new is added to the Drummer Cafe, whether it be feature, drumming news, events, articles, lessons, reviews, interviews, contests, etc., I include it in the Drummer Cafe eZine.

you know, the gc here also did not do any promotion. pretty lame. I would've gone.

I've seen zoro clinics in the past, and had one lesson with him. he's a good communicator and has a cool sense of humor. I love the line in his video, when he plays a groove 2 ways, then asks, 'who [of those 2 drummers] do you want playing at your bar mitzvah?'

neat guy. a shame they didn't hype it more.

You know I caught every single one of his southbay performances last year, I think 3 in all. This year I was going to go but his personality and relentless pushing of his sponsores gets on my nerves. My g/f went with me and even she was turned off by his personality. Good drummer but I think his clinics are a bit over rated. In the end I didn't feel like I had a greater understanding of anything, just how "great" zoro is. To me his clinics feel like a ego flexing session.

really? wow, I got the total opposite vibe when I saw him. and definitely one-on-one, he was very gracious and cool. I never felt intimidated in the way I have with... ehhhhh...

another drummer.

maybe he's been hangin' with lenny kravitz too much?

At all the clinics I went to he talked about why he liked certain grooves or certain types of music but never really went huge into technique. Like with half time shuffles he talked about why they were so finectious but never broke down things to help you get better at them. He rushed through any explanations just felt like he was there to show off. Out of the 3 clinics I saw only one was different at all and it was in fountain valley I think and he went off answering questions for 3/4th of the clinic that was cool but I just feel they're a bit overrated. Stanton Moore gives a far better clinic imo.
