Depression....hmmmmm...could be. It does run in my family. I consulted my mother-in-law (who is an RN) and told her my symptoms etc. She said,"it sounds like you have low serotonin levels". I'm now taking supplements for that...four days and counting. I hear it takes about two weeks or so for one to notice the effects. We shall see.
Just an additional note on Prozac. Prozac is a seratonin re-uptake inhibitor, meaning that it keeps the seratonin you DO produce
in your brain instead of letting it get reabsorbed too fast, which is the main chemical problem with many depressed people.
Although it takes 30-35 days to take effect Prozac really, really works. St. John's Wort did exactly nothing for me. Your results, obviously, may vary.
My point is, natural remedies might or might not work, or they might work a little bit. Prozac WORKS, and it works in a major way, in my experience.
And I can tell you that 11 years later I am still depression-free WITHOUT Prozac. All the Prozac did was show me what it's like to NOT be depressed. The Prozac killed the symptoms, and then the counseling cured the root causes, and then I didn't need the Prozac any more. At the time, though, it was a life-saver.
