I love the Drummer Cafe!

I finally got my MP3 player up and working--whee! I went out to tuck the chickens in this pm listening to an obscure little song by The Eels called "I Like Birds" Grin

This player came w/ an online music service free trial  Roll Eyes--but it seems that all the music this service offers is indie, live versions, karaoke versions, etc, but not the original artists of the songs. Not what I want at all.
So my question is:  is there a particular online music service/subscription that you like, and how much does it cost? Or are they all pretty much the same?

thanks, robyn

I don't buy online but my son uses itunes and loves it.  I rip my CDs to MP3s then load on my player.

I use ITunes also but there is another that alot of my friends like. It is called "Rhapsody"  http://www.rhapsody.com/welcome.html  It is run by Real Player. I tried the free trial and liked it but didn't use it enough to justify the monthly fee, ITunes is free. The one thing that I do like about Rhapsody is you can preview the entire song instead of just a clip. They both will manage your CD's also, you can rip or burn them into there library and move to your mp3 player which makes this pretty easy. I found ITunes a little easier, I hope this helps.

If you just want to listen on your computer, rhapsody is the way to go. I have it, I find the process annoying if you want to download songs off of rhapsody. The fee per song is cheaper but they make it more difficult. But they have a large library and I'd recommend. If you are looking to listen primarily on an mp3 player, just buy cds  Grin and burn them. I like the packages and the pictures anyway.

I have a Creative Mp3 and video player.

I use the Yahoo Music subscription and it is $13 per month- all you can download to your player but you cannot burn the data, just listen to it.  If you want to buy the tracks they are $.79 to $.99 cents.  If you want to use this service make sure your player is compatable to the subscription service.  Usually there is a link somewhere with the supported players listed.

I love it the player and Yahoo service.

My wife uses iTunes and an Ipod shuffle.  She does not use it as much as I do because it's 99 cents a song and she is very frugal.

Thanks, it's a good start. I plan on putting a lot of CD tracks on the player, but I just went thru all my old cassette tape mixes, and there's a page of stuff I'd like to get. I'd rather pay 99 cents for 1 song than $5+ for a whole CD that has one song on it that I want, so a subscription service might be the way to go.
