I am considering picking up either a Drumkat or a Hart multipad to use with my Roland TD-8 brain. I just want something compact that I can use in conjunction with my acoustic drums instead of dragging out my e-kit. I used to have an SPD 20 but I sold in favor of having a complete e-kit, now I sort of want both. Does anyone know how compatible the Drumkat is with a Roland brain? I did a search and I can't seem to find a definitive answer iot seems it would be fine but I am not positive. I know the Hart will work, but it seems to be discontinued and there aren't any around on Ebay. Thanks for any help.

It's all MIDI ... so there should be no issues. You just have to set-up your performances patches and work with the sensitivity of the pads.

The drumKAT, I actually own the drumKAT Turbo, is very versatile and can be used to trigger any sound module or MIDI device.

Thanks Bart, my follow up question after further investigation is, what is the difference between the regular drumKAT and the DK10 besides the obvious price difference?

Features.

The drumKAT, drumKAT Turbo and DK10 share the same frame, and sensors. The dk10 has a wide dynamic range like the drumKAT, but you cannot train and tailor the dynamic response to your own personal taste. There are four GLOBAL settings that set the dynamic response of the dk10.

There are two inputs on the dk10 for HiHat and bass drum trigger pedals. The drumKAT has 9 trigger inputs plus hihat controller input. There are 6 factory kit configurations and 4 User Kits where you can save your pad setups. Also note that there is no display on the dk10.

With the dk10, each pad can send its own midi channel and note number setting, one note per pad. If you are using a controller HiHat pedal like the HatPedal, the dk10 will automatically send out controller numbers 1 and 4 on channel 10. (for hihat position control if your sound module responds to this).

I suggest visiting the manufacture's website, www.alternatemode.com, for further comparisons and tech sheet type info.
