suprisingly i've never heard a peavey before, in my opinion they look strange, but your setup is awesome dude. I'm gettin' a PDP FS Birch 7 piece and hope it's good. by the way, what knid of wood does your set have?

This kit is a 1979 (non-Resonator) Premier kit, which I bought for around 400 bucks in 1990, including two cymbals and matching 12" and 15" (!) concert toms. As you can see, the color wrap has cracked, probably due to the very cold and dry climate here in Umeå. The shells are very thin, 3- or 4-ply, with thick one-ply reinforcement hoops (beech, I think).

Just a quick question out of curiosity- the hardware, stands specifically, are those Ludwig as well?  I had a few stands of that are- the Atlas and Hercules, they didn't look quite like those.  Like I said, just curious, the kit does look very nice though- never really seen a green sparkle much before, cool

First, Louderdb, that looks like the stage at Universal City at Universal Studios in LA. That place always gives me vertigo at night with the lights and elevated stage. Where are you really?

Second, I was always fascinated by the Peaveys. Do they still make them? I thought they were out of production. Yours look gorgeous, though.

Oh, and I agree! In the spirit of the conversation BR was having, I think he meant as long as it holds the tom (cymbal - whatever) the way you like it and keeps it in place - it doesn't matter the brand -  which is why my '70's Ludwig kit doesn't have 70's Ludwig hardware.  I'd rather have it stay in place than to have my tom move every time I hit it because it's being held by a vintage consolette, or lose my cymbal because the L-arm won't stay tight in the Bass drum bracket (unsurprisingly that happened to me more than once - hence the upgrade to my hardware - although this set does have the L arm set up - but I figured out a way to make it work - 5 years now without an incident of L-arm failure).   That is not to say that the vintage hardware isn't way cool and couldn't work, it just doesn't work for ME.

Today's Ludwig hardware is pretty good - but the stuff I had (in the 70's) was crap. And I got the Tama stuff when they were just up and coming - no other reason than it was sturdy and recommended by the drum shop.  I still have all the hardware and it all still functions great (not a commercial for Tama - just get good stuff).  So the drum guy was right - he's now the manager of the store which has been around for over 30 years now , , ,
