For those who weren't following the drama, a re-cap. My car got stolen late May 2006 and I lost a bunch of drum gear. Update: I finally got it all replaced.

My kit set up with the prize ride cymbal (which by the way, is massive and weighs a ton. And it doesn't really match the Paistes.)
I would be glad to take it off your hands for you then How big is that splash in the middle? 4''?

Yep. It's a Paiste Accent though, not a splash; it's very thick, sounds like a bell. I bought it as an inside joke with the guys I was in a band with at the time, we had seen a band and the drummer had a 6" or 8" splash, and we'd see him hit it, but could never hear it, so they were like "why don't you get a tiny cymbal that has no point?" It's actually got a pretty cool sound, and I've used a lot of times to end a song, which makes everyone laugh.

Thank you yankeeboy13, It really depends on where I am playing. I may go jam somewhere one afternoon and only take 2 crashes and a ride and Hi Hat. Truthfully, that is all one really needs to play IMHO. If I am recording or playing at home, I use almost all of it because with each cymbal is a different note. When Bart releases the Community solo you should be able to hear all the notes. I used all but two cymbals on that recording. Right now, I have one more cymbal than I have stands since I picked up the 24in. ride. I need one more boom stand and I can set all of them up. If I am playing a maximum exposure type gig, I will take it all. The other problem with taking all of it is stage size. Most stages at clubs are not big enough for all my gear. I just take the essentials and if I leave my gear on a Friday night to come back and play again Saturday night, I take my cymbals home with me . Nutty

Yea, I know . Cool cartoon !! I Guess I could have left them on a stand and taken them outside and shot the picture straight down off my second story deck? It was just a different way to really see them all. Thanks Dave. Nutty

Well, I am back again and I have been a bad boy today. Bought something new. I guess you either have to love them or hate them. These babies are limited addition Tama Star Classics Birch. I was told that they only made about 100 of these. I was leaving MOMS music today and there were musicians asking me if we did any Hendrix. Yes we do. I was shopping Musicians Friends and Lexington's Guitar Center, and Max at MOMS Music took good care of me again. My local store!!! Here are a few more if you want to click on them? http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/996/1000462qd4.jpghttp://img103.imageshack.us/img103/8686/1000458xh4.jpgI had to add this one. It is where I spend most of my time.Modify: Nutty

Nice score, Mark! Love the finish! Do the neighbors get nervous when they see you set your drums up in the driveway?

Nice score, Mark! Love the finish! Do the neighbors get nervous when they see you set your drums up in the driveway? The Neighbors have joined us playing and grilling in the Drive way. I throw one about every 3 years here. The police come every time and we turn down to about 95dbs and continue on. We invite the police to come back after their shift. You can legally make noise until 10:00 PM here. We try to invite all the Neighbors, but I'm sure there are ones I missed so they call the police. LOL . Nutty

I admit I'm partial to Tamas, but seriously that's a sweeeet looking kit! I'm a 'lug guy' and I really think the Starclassic lugs a really a thing of beauty-especially in that brushed nickel finish. The large lugs like you see on DWs and other kits is a reall turn-off for me. What is the name of the finish? Also, they look like they have metal badges, traditionally the maples had decals

Also, they look like they have metal badges, traditionally the maples had decals Hi Mongrel, The lugs are a smoke color and the finish was called "Citris" something or other. I will call the store and find out for you when they open. This was a limited addition kit. Yes they have metal badges and so did the Star Classic kit I bought about 5 years ago. The Badge on the one I bought 5 years ago was more bronze looking. I have already noticed some very good changes in the hardware since my kit from 5 years ago was built. There are now locks on everthing. More reinforcement on the weight bearing hardware. I am also excited about the Free Iron Cobra Power Glide DB pedal that I get with buying any Star Classic kit 4 peices or more. That deal is good until September. I have been playing a Gibralter Intruder ll for about 11 years now. I am very interested in comparing. I have heard great things about the Iron Cobra, now I get to find out first hand. I am going to use this kit to play out mostly. You wouldn't know it but this has a wrap finish. It really took me awhile to see that and it looked as good as my Laquer finish. I will keep my Natural Maple Finish at home mostly. They are having a Bikers for Christ weekend at church and they told me that I could bring my kit . Which one should I use ??? That is the question??? Nutty

A wrap? Very hard to tell that from the pics. It looks like a psychadelic paint job... Which actually answers the question of which kit to take to the Bikers for Christ gig The new one obviously! Again, nice snag.
