Cool Hopefully it will be better than what they have done
It should for the talent they have but who knows unless you hear more than 10 seconds of it.
I have been listening to rush since day one before Neil and I think the old stuff is better but the sound is probably engineer better now a days, I just need more than 10 secs
Have fun Rush fans

I was thinking maybe there was a riddle in it. Like, maybe it's Morse Code for

S-U-C-K-E-R! Grin

Nope!  It is not Morse code.  Count me as another one who wasted 10 seconds when I could have been cruising the Drummer Cafe.   Cool  If that clip is representative of the album I am buying something else.

EDIT:  now I have wasted more time writing about it.

EDIT AGAIN:  is there no end to wasted time?

I'll bet it sounds like all the other Rush tunes (you can tell them apart by their titles!).  Smiley

Love them or hate them, to imply that all Rush tunes sound alike is flat-out wrong!

I'd like to hear some of your recordings guys.  Geez, tough crowd.

I thought it sounded great.  The notes and structure mean nothing to me at a first listen.  Remember when you knew nothing/very little about music and heard Rush or some other band for the first time?  Awesome wasn't it?

You guys have ruined it for yourselves  Cheesy

I remember the first time I heard Hemispheres.  I knew very little of music, taking basic piano back then and hating it.  Anyways my friend's older brother had just bought that one and Eagles "Hotel California" (I personally got into that stuff more than Rush at the time).

But he made us lay on his bed between two Hi Fi speakers (thank goodness we didn't have to do bhong rips) and listen to Hemispheres.  It really took me to another place I remember and I just laid there and soaked it in.  We were pretty cool for little kids  Cool

I would have to agree. These guys have been making music forever and I love every single song they have. These guys continue to amaze me and many other fans. So what if it is one chord over some rhythm that will take you 30 minutes to figure out. That is what Rush does. This clip brings me back to Hemispheres, and if the rest of the album does, they have sold one copy to me.

Well, okay, but I'm still furious with you, and I'm deeply hurt by your insinuation.

Okay, now it's me who's joking!  Wink

Okay ... but I'm not Rush! I'd also not post 10 seconds and make you click on the link in order to hear what my new single sounds like.

That clip may sound nice sonically, but it DOES sound like a lot of other Rush tunes. I bet I could play that 10-second clip to 10 seasoned drummers and 9 of them would guess Rush! Nothing wrong with them sounding like themselves mind you ... but its nothing new or special  ... so why post it and act like it is!

Okay, it "sounded" great sonically ... still not enough to make me want to buy the album ... and I don't care who the artist/group/band is.

The point I was trying to make is this ... the people who over the 10-second clip are the same people who would buy Rush's single without hearing a note. So who was the 10-seconds for?

I'm done. You won't change my view or what I hear ... and I won't change yours. It's okay if we disagree.  Cool

I just wanted to point out it takes at least 5 minutes to read this thread about 10 second clip.

I sort of feel like a "Gator fan" on the call-in show on Big Trouble.

I love that high end zing thing happening.  Never heard that in a rush tune before... but yet it sounds like Rush.

Super phat sound too and the snare drum sounds GREAT- lots of depth.

Genius Grin

I am definitely going to see them this time around.

C'mon, they are a freakin' great rock band.  You can't deny that!

I agree totally. I think this is their greatest sounding recording yet. Smiley

Me too!.  There was so much good music during that period it was impossible to keep up with everything.  Hotel Callifornia was my favorite at that time.

I am talking about their recording itself. I am not talking about the song. Vapor Trails recording sucked.

That's exactly how I am now. I just heard Rush for the first time about a month ago, and god I'm hooked.

I'll take this two to a third page.  Best thread we have had here in months.

That's Geddy's bass making that zing noise.  Freakin' AWESOME Man.  You guys must be deaf from all that drumming   Grin  Get your hearing checked!

That snare sound is killer.  He must be getting 3 voices from it- harmonizing around the one chord Alex is playing.  That's the melody!!!!

JEEEEZZZZZZ DUHHHHHHHH And I thought you guys were good? Undecided Cheesy

I love how they pan the crash cymbal at the end also.  The more I listen to that clip the more I hear.  It has so much depth.

Did anyone ever read any of Neil's books?  Pretty good weren't they?
