Arizona Percussive Arts Society
34th Spring Festival of Percussion
March 30, 31 and April 1
University of Arizona, Tucson

The 34th Annual AZPAS Spring Festival of Percussion at The University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ. This year's festival features Scrap Arts Music, a unique group that performs on inventive percussion instruments fashioned out of industrial scrap. They will perform PHONK! Saturday night at UA Centennial Hall. Five musicians twirl, bang, leap and play. An exhilarating, multi-sensory experience that journeys from thunderous to resonant. Arizona PAS member will receive 20% off of the ticket price when they call UApresents at (520) 621-3341 and mention they are a member.  On Saturday and Sunday Scrap Arts Music will give four clinics dealing with their compositional process and use of unique instrumentation.

A thunderous transportive evening of steel drum bands takes over Centennial Hall Friday night to kick off our festival. The Arizona Mass Steel Ensemble features bands ranging in age from elementary school through college as well as professionals performing together in a mass steel event not to be missed. Contact Mike Sammons for details at msammons@email.arizona.edu.

The Arizona PAS Adjudication Festival on Saturday morning is open to Percussion Ensembles and Soloists of all levels.  Percussionists are encouraged to perform and receive constructive comments from professional musicians and educators. There will also be a frame drum clinic by John Pennington Saturday afternoon. Sticks, mallets, drum pads and sheet music will be given away in our raffle.

The morning festival and clinics are free and open to the public while the evening concerts are ticketed events.  See www.uapresents.org or call (520) 621-3341 to get tickets.  Mention that you are a PAS member to receive a discounted ticket!
